The Department of Life Sciences Discusses a Master’s Thesis on a Study of Some Biological and Morphological Aspects of the African Land Snail

Discussion of a Master’s Thesis

The Department of Biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Kerbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (A Study of Some Biological and Morphological Aspects of the African Land Snail). For the student (Ahmed Hussein Abdul), under the supervision of (Asst. Prof. Israa Nasser Ghulam).
The thesis aimed to conduct an intensive study of the phenotypic characteristics of the giant African land snail and for taxonomic considerations. And to shed light on some basic biological aspects to understand the dynamics of the population group and its spread in different ecosystems. And to study the fertility of snails and by more than one criterion to understand the reproductive capacity and their embryonic development.
The study recommended the implementation of periodic monitoring programs in agricultural and horticultural areas to detect the presence of the snail early and take rapid measures to prevent its spread. And the necessity of conducting health monitoring by the health teams responsible for monitoring beauty and recreation centers in dealing with this snail, as the snail is an invasive species that spreads quickly and adapts to the environment. The student received an excellent grade.
