Kerbala University has achieved a competitive position in the Webometrics world ranking in its second edition for the year 2024. The rating results showed www.webometrics.info/en/Asia/Iraq thirty thousand university institutions around the world compete according to indicators that measure the virtual presence of universities through their locations and indicate the percentage of clarity (50%), transparency (10%) and the strength and excellence of research (40%). The current version witnessed the rise of the Iraqi universities index compared to the previous version, where Karbala University ranked 17th locally out of 126 universities indicated by the official website of the higher Center for scientific research in Spain. It is worth noting that Iraq ranked first in the Arab and seventh globally in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024 in terms of the number of universities participating in the 2024 edition, while Iraqi universities and colleges recorded their increasing competition in other global rankings, including the Shanghai Ranking of academic Subjects for the year 2023, in which the University of Baghdad appeared within the specialization (Dentistry & Oral Sciences) and (Qs), whose version for the year 2025 attests to the presence of five Iraqi universities, the Scimago classification, in which there are forty-seven institutions, and the Green Metric classification, in which the number of educational institutions has increased There are seventy-four Iraqi universities and colleges and the RUR classification, in which forty-five Iraqi universities are located.
