The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a scientific symposium entitled (Menopause: Its Symptoms and Reducing Its Effects). It was delivered by (Prof. Dr. Hamida Hadi Abdel Wahed), (Prof. Dr. Rehab Jassim Muhammad), and (Prof. Dr. Inaam Gouda Radhi). The course aimed to explain the concept of menopause in women. It occurs in a generation close to the age of fifty and brings with it symptoms and things, some of which are annoying, and menopause brings with it certain signs and symptoms for women. The symposium also included several topics on the symptoms of menopause, including the feeling of hot flashes, the appearance of sleep disturbances, signs of depression, cognitive changes, osteoporosis, and others, in addition to an explanation that approximately 1% of women suffer from menopause before reaching the age of forty and premature menopause. Therefore, the reason behind early menopause must be the failure of the ovaries to produce normal levels of reproductive hormones, primary ovarian insufficiency, due to genetic factors or autoimmune diseases. But there are often no causes for early menopause. Researchers have called for attention to such topics because the hormonal changes associated with menopause affect the physical, emotional, psychological and social well-being of women. In addition, the issue of menopause is of critical importance to view as one link in a continuous series of life stages. The health status of a woman who begins the period before menopause depends to a large extent on her previous health and reproductive history, her lifestyle, and the environmental factors surrounding her.
