The Department of Biology Discusses a Master’s Thesis on a Comparative Molecular and Chemical Study of Species of the Genus Galium L. of the Family Rubiaceae in Iraq

Discussion of the Master’s Thesis

The Department of Biology at the Faculty of education for pure sciences at Karbala University discussed a master’s thesis entitled (Molecular and chemical comparative study of types of sex Galium L. from the Rubiaceae family in Iraq), for the student (Rabia Salman Hamid), and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. (Balqis Hadi Hashim) from the Faculty of science – Karbala University.
The aim of the dissertation was to identify the estimation of genetic variation and genetic relationships between species for a Galium plant using some molecular techniques such as RAPD, which appears in the form of a difference in the number and size of multiplicative pieces and the efficiency of prefixes used to produce heterogeneous DNA packages in the plant genome.
The message also included the adoption of RAPD indicators with DNA in other plant species because of their importance in the study of genetic diversity and excellent as an effective tool for analyzing genetic diversity , as the current study succeeded in detecting genetic variations and differences in the content of genetic diversity as a result of the difference in the number and size of multiplicative pieces, which helped to determine the genetic relationship between the studied species, RAPD is a powerful and useful tool to identify species in the Galium plant and the multiplicity of forms discovered between species that can be used in breeding programs to maximize the use of genetic resources .
The study recommended the need to expand the field of molecular studies by using other genetic indicators to search for new taxonomic evidence supporting the exact characteristics of species belonging to the Kalium plant by studying the genetic sequence, the number of chromosomes and their behavior during the stages of meiosis, as well as studying the effect of chemical compounds extracted on various organisms such as bacteria and parasites. The student received a very good grade.
