The College of Education for Pure Sciences Organizes a Scientific Symposium on Insect Pheromones

Scientific Symposium

The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a scientific symposium on (Pheromones, Their Use and Benefits), delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. (Yarub Mudar Jawad).
The symposium aimed to know the concept of pheromone, which is a chemical substance released outside the body of one individual and received by another individual of the same species, which in turn shows a specific reaction, either a behavioral or physiological reaction.
The scientific symposium also included an explanation of the types of pheromones, namely sex pheromones, also called sex attractants, which are released by both sexes, and aggregation pheromones, which stimulate the behavior of individuals of the same species and lead to an increase in their numerical density. Dispersal pheromone, which stimulates some behavioral patterns that lead to increasing the distance between individuals of the same species.
Researchers have called for attention to such topics to emphasize the importance of studying pheromones in all fields, whether agricultural or for combating agricultural pests and other fields.
