The Department of Chemistry Discusses a Master’s Thesis on Removing Indigo Carmine and Malachite Green Dyes from their Aqueous Solutions

Master Thesis Discussion

The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (Removing Indigo carmine and Malachite green dyes from their aqueous solutions using spinel-type MnFe2O4 and MnFe2O4-MgO as adsorbent surfaces). By the student (Zahraa Muhammad Mahdi), and supervised by (Professor Munir Abdel-Aali Al-Daami).
The aim of the thesis was to prepare two spinel catalysts, MnFe2O4 and MnFe2O4-MgO superimposed spinel catalysts, and characterize them using FT-IR XRD SEM techniques, and study the optimal conditions for the adsorption process such as (equilibrium time, adsorbent surface weight, dye concentration, temperature, ionic strength, function acidity).
The thesis showed the results of the spectral studies of the two prepared diamond surfaces that are in a crystalline form of spinel structure type and the invers spinel structure, and showed the possibility of removing toxic dyes from their aqueous solutions, such as Indigo carmine and Malachite green, using the two diamond surfaces.
The thesis recommended that it is useful to conduct extensive studies of the susceptibility of the two spiel compounds, MnFe2O4 and MnFe2O4-MgO used in the research, to many organic and inorganic pollutants. The student obtained an honors degree.
