The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, chaired a meeting of the Advisory Council, which was formed under Article (6) of the Law of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which includes a group of academic expertise working inside and outside Iraq. The meeting discussed the indicators of updating curricula in Iraqi universities according to the path of specialized knowledge variables and in light of the requirements of the labor market and the requirements of the institutions’ need for specific areas of academic programs that have an impact responsible for the development of public and private institutions and their contribution to responding to the goals of sustainable development. During the meeting, the Minister of Education stressed the importance of methodological keeping up in the environment of Iraqi universities for the purpose of achieving the required interaction in the fields of humanities and pure scientific disciplines and enabling students to explore the horizon of scientific development and read the course of education and learning in discreet international universities. The meeting reviewed the universities’ readiness to implement the Bologna track in engineering and science disciplines in public and private universities and colleges in the upcoming academic year 2023/2024, and the related training programs for the teaching staff that will undertake the implementation of the new transformation map in the university educational environment in Iraq. The Minister of Education called for benefiting from the Iraqi advisory expertise present in the universities of the world and consolidating the climate of continuous cooperation that supports the direction of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in opening up to the world and admiring academic expertise and providing an environment for joint work with goals related to the quality of education and academic accreditation and the twinning of scientific programs, pointing out at the same time Noting that the Ministry and its universities were able to attract international students through the “Study in Iraq” initiative, which strengthened the foundations of the academic reputation of Iraqi university institutions and gave impetus to their presence and competition in the global competition platforms.
