Master thesis discussion
The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (Studying the effect of nano-chitosan associated with some drugs on some chemical properties and the p53 gene in lung cancer cell line type (A549) by the student (Bahaa Karim Al-Ghanmi) and supervised by (Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nazim Bahgat) and (Professor. Dr. Zainab Nazarjawad). The thesis aimed to use some drugs that are related to nano-chitosan and their use in inhibiting lung cancer cells and to know the effect of gene expression (P53) after exposure of lung cancer cell line outside the body of the organism to nano-chitosan drugs. The thesis included linking drugs (mefenamic acid – cephalexin – paracetamol) with nanoscale chitosan, and they were diagnosed using FT-IR and 1H-NMR magnetic resonance spectroscopy. It also included the measurement of the release time of drugs loaded on nanoparticles of chitosan in different Buffer solutions (2.2, 6.0, 7.2, and 8.0) pH. The thesis recommended the delivery of drugs selectively to specific pathological sites, without reaching non-target cells, organs, or tissues, the development of nanoscale properties of some pharmaceutical polymers and their applications in the biomedical field, and the improvement of properties such as taste and smell and the enhancement of their solubility. The student obtained an excellent grade.
