The Minister of Higher Education Receives the Ambassador of the European Union and they Discuss the Development of International Partnership in the Fields of University Education
Meeting of the Minister of Education with the Ambassador of the European Union
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, received the Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq, Villa Fariola, and his accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed the horizons of cooperation and areas of international partnership between Iraq and the European Union countries in the fields of university education and joint work spaces within the development environment and the fields of specialized scientific research. During the meeting, the Minister of Education stated that the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is keen to benefit from successful experiences in the European region, especially with regard to the Bologna track, which was adopted in Iraqi universities and the associated advanced educational systems, as well as the academic expertise provided by the state and organizations to develop the higher education sector. In general, stressing the importance of cooperation between the two sides to develop joint initiatives, programs and projects that serve friendly peoples. He added that Iraq is looking forward to increasing cooperation opportunities with the European Union and extending development bridges in the scientific and academic sectors in order to raise educational levels, as well as facilitating the participation of Iraqi researchers and teachers in conferences and workshops held in the European Union countries. For his part, the Ambassador of the European Union praised the decision of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, to adopt the Bologna track in technical universities, expressing the readiness of the European Union countries to provide the necessary support for the success of this track.
