Meeting of the Minister of Education with the Australian Ambassador
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, received the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Mrs. Paula Ganley, and they discussed areas of joint scientific and academic cooperation. During the meeting, he stressed the importance of consolidating areas of cooperation and coordination between Iraqi universities and their Australian counterparts, especially with regard to scientific research in the fields of agriculture, livestock, water and disciplines that are directly related to the goals of sustainable development. The Minister of Education called for the development of joint academic programs between the two countries, revealing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s intention to study the resumption of scholarship programs in conjunction with the launch of the project and initiative (Study in Iraq), pointing to the importance of benefiting from international scientific expertise in higher education institutions and the exchange of scientific visits, grants and fellowships. study and joint supervision, pointing at the same time to the ministry’s readiness to receive requests to establish branches of discreet international universities in Iraq. For her part, the Australian ambassador praised the positive indicators achieved and the decisions taken during the current stage of the life of the ministry and moving towards development and modernization at the level of the student and professor environment and curricula, noting the readiness of her country’s universities to bilateral cooperation with Iraqi universities in terms of twinning programs, memorandums of understanding and student exchange.
