The respected Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Dr. (Hamidah Aidan Salman) and researcher (Maha Jassim Munshed) from the College of Education for Pure Sciences / Department of Chemistry at the University of Karbala obtained a patent from the standardization and quality control device in the Ministry of Planning and tagged (inhibition of carbon alloy corrosion Annealing in a sulfuric acid solution using some organic dyes (Luxol Fast Blue, Methyl Violet, Cresol Red). 0 – 200) in a sulfuric acid solution at a concentration of (1) with a temperature range of (303-323) and by using a device potentiostat, the effect of temperature and concentration on inhibition efficiency was studied, as the inhibition efficiency increased with increasing temperature and inhibitor concentration.
The patent consisted of discussing the experimental results obtained from the slope of the anodic and cathodic polarization curves (Tafel) (Ba Bc), corrosion current density (corr), corrosion voltage (Ecorr), and the percentage of inhibition efficiency (E%).
The patent aims to show that the results obtained show that the dyes that were used as inhibitors are good and effective inhibitors to prevent corrosion of the carbon steel alloy under the experimental conditions used, with an inhibition efficiency of 94.10% for Luxol Fast Blue, 85.30% for Cresol Red, and 83.30% for Cresol Red. for the dye methyl violet. As each of the thermodynamic functions of the corrosion process (AGAH AS) were discussed, as well as the thermodynamic functions of the activated complex (*AG, *AHAS*) and the adsorption isotherms of the dyes used as inhibitors, it was found that they obey Lanckmayer, and the thermodynamic functions of the adsorption process were calculated using the equation. AGads AHads AS ads).
The Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences had obtained four patents in the field of the Department of Chemistry. Congratulations to the dean as well as the researcher for this great achievement and the scientific initiative to provide the Department of Chemistry with distinguished scientific patents. We wish them every success in service of our dear college and the University of Karbala.
