The Minister of Higher Education Receives the French Ambassador and Calls for Opening Branches of French Universities in Iraq

Meeting of the Minister of Education with the French Ambassador to Iraq

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, received the French Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Eric Chevalier, and his accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed the horizons of joint cooperation between the two countries in the fields of higher education and scientific research, the development of an environment for academic coordination between university institutions, and the promotion of scientific and cultural exchange.
During the meeting, the Minister of Education called for the opening of branches of the prestigious French universities in Iraq and the modernization of scientific twinning paths and academic programs in a manner consistent with positive cultural relations with friendly countries that seek to develop scientific agreements in the field of scientific research, twinning, fellowships and scholarships.
He explained that the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its universities are keen on productive partnerships with discreet educational institutions in the world and organizing contexts of mutual understanding and cooperation, pointing out that the educational systems in Iraqi universities are witnessing an important shift towards the Bologna track adopted in the European region.
His Excellency the Ambassador, Mr. Eric Chevalier, expressed his appreciation for the interest shown by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, towards partnerships and international academic cooperation, pointing to the increase in scholarships and fellowships granted to Iraqi students in French universities to obtain a doctorate degree in various disciplines.
