The Department of biology held a private scientific workshop entitled (Desertification and Drought in Iraq and Obstacles to Solutions). The workshop aimed to warn the Ministry of Agriculture in Iraq of the widening problem of desertification in the country, which is related to the water crisis that caused the decline of agricultural lands, stressing that desertification threatens 55% of the country’s area. The workshop also aimed to:
1. Defining the concept of desertification and drought 2. Identify the causes of desertification 3 . Identify the causes of drought 4. Identify the special ways to reduce desertification and drought, and what are the obstacles to solutions.
We wish more creativity and progress in the field of meaningful scientific activities and cooperation between academic and scientific institutions in service of our college.
