A Lecturer from the Department of Chemistry publishes a scientific article on radar-absorbent materials

Scientific Article

The lecturer in the College of Education for Pure Sciences/Department of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. (Mohammed Nazem Bahjat) obtained the acceptance to publish a tagged scientific article entitled (Radar Wave Absorbing Materials) by the Scientific Articles Committee at the Presidency of Karbala University after the article fulfilled all publication conditions. (Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nazim Bahgat) stated that absorbent materials are materials that have properties that make them capable of absorbing electromagnetic waves when those waves pass through these materials, and their ability lies in reducing the radar cross-section (RCS) of the reflected waves, and thus these materials have High effectiveness in stealth technology, especially in the military fields. Since these materials are exposed to different environmental conditions, they must have conditions that help them withstand different environmental conditions and high stresses imposed on them, including:

1- It should be chemically stable so that it does not decompose or char as a result of high temperature.
2- It is electrically stable to avoid the dangers of lightning strikes.
3- The absorbent material should be against corrosion so that the vehicle that uses these materials for its manufacture would not be destroyed.
4- Since radar has a high bandwidth, these materials must have high bandwidth.
5- It has a thin thickness.
6- High absorption of electromagnetic waves.
7- It has a low density.
