The Lecturer (Prof. Dr. Hyam Abdel Reda) from the Department of biology published a research paper entitled (Effects of Vitamin D on Risks and the severity of COVID-19 infection), which was published in (The archives of Razi Institute). This study aimed to find out the relationship between vitamin D intake and the risk of severe infection with Coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19) and the risk of chronic disease patients. The effects of sex, chronic diseases (eg hypertension and diabetes), and those requiring an intensive care unit (ICU) were included. The results showed that females were less likely to be infected with COVID-19 compared to males, and it was also revealed that patients with chronic diseases were more sensitive to COVID-19, as vitamin D strengthens the immune system and respiratory function. The results of this research indicated that vitamin D reduces the risk of contracting COVID-19; However, she was unable to stop him.
