The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdel-Saheb, received the Director of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) office in Iraq, Yonida Jain, and his accompanying delegation, and they discussed steps of cooperation and partnership in the fields of training and implementation of infrastructure projects for university institutions. The two sides discussed the project to establish the Japanese University in Iraq, the quality of projects offered by JICA for the development of educational paths, the contents of memoranda of understanding with several Iraqi universities, and the joint academic programs they include and spaces for scientific cooperation for development and qualification. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research stressed the readiness of the ministry and its institutions to proceed in coordination with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Iraq and to form a ministerial working group to organize the horizons of cooperation, obtain fundamental approvals, arrange priorities related to university infrastructure projects and cultural exchange programs, and determine the required specializations that can serve Iraqi labor market. In turn, the Director of the JICA office in Iraq, Yoneda Jain, expressed his happiness with this meeting and the indications of interest in the environment of international cooperation and partnership and the identification of goals to be included in the projects and memoranda of understanding that pertain to academic institutions in Iraq.
