Department of Chemistry Discusses Master Thesis on Using of Natural Chitosan Nano Polymer Combined with some Drugs in Inhibiting Breast Cancer

Discussion of a Master’s Thesis

The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences discussed the master’s thesis of the student (Alia Hussein Abbas) under the supervision of (Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nazem Bahgat) for her thesis entitled (Using of Natural Chitosan Nano Polymer Combined with some Drugs in Inhibiting Breast Cancer). The study aimed to prepare and diagnose chitosan nanopolymer by (FT-IR, H-NMR, AFM, XRD, and TEM) techniques, and then link this prepared polymer with some drugs (Ampicillin, Amoxicillin, Cephalexin, Mefaminic acid, and Paracetamol) and diagnose it with FT-IR, H- techniques. (NMR,13C-NMR)). Also, some physical properties such as solubility and drug release were studied in different buffer solutions, and then the prepared compounds were studied in inhibiting cancer cells.
As for the main conclusions:
1- Natural chitosan nanopolymer has been prepared using FT-IR, HNMR, AFM, XRD, and TEM techniques.
2- Several drugs loaded on chitosan nanopolymer were prepared and diagnosed by FT-IR, HNMR, and 13 CNMR techniques.
3- The solubility of nano-chitosan drugs in different solvents was determined.
4- The drug release from nano-chitosan drugs prepared with different pH values (2.2, 6.0, 7.2, 8.0) was studied.
5- The results of the molecular fusion showed the type and length of the bonds of the prepared chitosan compounds.
6- The biological effectiveness of the prepared compounds has been studied in preventing the spread of cancer cells, and the effectiveness of these drugs can be arranged in the following order: A5 > A3 > A2 > A6 > A4 > A1
After extensive scientific discussion and listening to the student’s defense of her thesis, her research method, and her use of sources and references, the thesis was approved with honors. Congratulations to the student, her supervisor, the Department of Chemistry, and the College of Education for Pure Sciences for this great achievement, and God Almighty grants success.
