The Department of Biology Discusses a Master’s Thesis on a Comparative Study for the Estimation of Chemical Components in the Muscles of Carp and Shank Fish in the Holy Governorate of Karbala
The Department of Biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences discussed a master’s thesis for the student (Doaa Habib Hamza Al-Tarifi) entitled (A comparative study for the estimation of chemical components in the muscles of carp fish (Heckel, 1843) Arabibarbus grypus and Acanthopagrus arabicus (Iwatsuki, 2003)) in the Holy Karbala Governorate), under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. (Mohammed Wissam Haider Al-Muhanna), and the second supervision, Assistant Professor Dr. (Kazim Obaid Matar Al-Hamari). Where the current study aims to: 1. Determining the level of motor activity of two types of local bony fish by knowing the chemical composition (protein, fat, moisture, ash) of muscle pieces (R1, R2) in the studied body areas. 2. Determining the nutritional value of the studied fish by knowing the percentage of fat in the studied muscle pieces. 3. Determination of the total caloric value of the protein and fat content in the fish of the current study. 4. Adding new academic scientific information not previously studied in the field of the life of the studied local fish, which is a scientific basis for future life studies. After the extensive scientific discussion and listening to the student’s defense of her thesis, the method of her research, and her use of sources and references, the thesis was approved with honors. Congratulations to the student, to her supervisor, to the College of Education for Pure Sciences for this achievement, to the University of Karbala, and more creativity in the service of our beloved Iraq, the Iraq of science and scholars, and from God Almighty success and payment.
