The Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences Publishes a Scientific Article on the Inhibition of Corrosion of Carbon Steel Alloys Using Nano-Polymers
The Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hamida Idan Salman, obtained the acceptance to publish a scientific article entitled (Inhibition of corrosion of carbon steel alloys using Nano-polymers) by the Scientific Articles Committee at the Presidency of the University of Karbala after the article fulfilled all publication conditions. (Prof. Dr. Hamida Aidan Salman) stated that corrosion is the deterioration of metal materials as a result of their interaction with their environment. It is a chemical or electrochemical process between the metal and its surroundings that leads to metal damage and deterioration. Corrosion also means that the metal tends to return to its stable state in which it was found in nature, because minerals in nature do not exist in a pure form, but are combined with other compounds that make it more stable. Corrosion can be divided into two parts: Wet corrosion: Occurs when the corrosive medium (electrolyte) is a liquid medium and the corrosion process is an electrochemical process accompanied by the passage of an electric current. Dry Corrosion: Occurs when the corrosive medium (electrolyte) is a gas and the corrosion process is a chemical process that is not accompanied by the passage of an electric current. Carbon steel has many uses in many industrial applications, as it is used in the manufacture of ships, cars, railways and household appliances because it is characterized by high durability and low cost, but despite the presence of these features in carbon steel, it corrodes easily through its interaction with water or acidic media. Causing the melting of iron metal and its transformation into the ionic state, and thus there will be noticeable problems with the industrial equipment used, which poses a danger to the environment, humans and society and leads to economic losses. Therefore, there was a need to find and develop effective ways to control and reduce corrosion. To see the article
