Meeting of the Minister of Education with the Chinese Ambassador
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdel Sahib, received the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Iraq, Mr. Tsui Wei and his accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed the joint Iraqi-Chinese Technical University project and ways to benefit from it at the scientific level, knowledge investment, strengthening academic relations and intertwining experiments related to renewable energy technologies. During the meeting, in the presence of the Director-General of the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations, the Minister of Education stressed the readiness of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its universities to cooperate in the scientific and academic fields and to coordinate on the axes of cultural exchange, pointing out that Iraq is interested in developing bilateral relations with China and quoting indicators of success in the Chinese experience in developing the environment. He expressed the keenness of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to renew the cultural cooperation agreement between the two countries and to resume the executive program in light of the approved contexts on both sides, noting the willingness of Iraqi universities to offer and exchange fellowships and scholarships with the Chinese side. For his part, the ambassador explained that China and Iraq have a long civilized heritage that paves the way for further partnership and cooperation in all fields, especially the scientific and cultural ones, noting that the exchange of fellowships and scholarships for students from both sides will contribute to strengthening the communication of the peoples over the coming generations, appreciating at the same time the response. The seriousness of the Iraqi government institutions in achieving results that serve the two countries. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Chinese ambassador discussed the file of Iraqi students studying in the People’s Republic of China, facilitating the procedures for granting entry visas to them and enabling some of them to resume studying in specialized Chinese universities, and they reviewed the coordination paths regarding the opening of the Chinese pavilion at the University of Baghdad.
