Awareness Brochure

A group of students from the Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences held an awareness brochure entitled (Environmental Pollution and the Effect of Chemical Pesticides), under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Chemistry and the department’s professors and teachers. This campaign aimed to educate students about the types of pesticides and their effects on the environment, as they are considered one of the most dangerous pollutants in the environment and soil. The repeated use of these pesticides eventually causes pollution and acute poisoning, killing and destroying many beneficial organisms when used incorrectly, and leads to the emergence of pest resistance. to pesticides and the spread of new pests that did not exist before. And there are some types of pesticides that help to increase the number of pests instead of reducing them, and this prompted many people to think about designing new methods of control. The students showed how the pesticide reaches the body through inhalation, skin, eyes and mouth. The students were recommended to take into account transporting pesticides on passengers and foodstuffs, wearing protective clothing and using appropriate equipment when measuring and preparing the mixture, and that pesticides should be stored in a tightly closed place.
