The College of Education for Pure Sciences Discusses a Master’s Thesis Entitled (Molecular diagnosis of Cryptosporidium parvum in the holy governorate of Karbala)

Discussion of a master’s thesis

The Department of biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Karbala, discussed the Master’s thesis tagged (Molecular Diagnosis of Cryptosporidium parvum in the Holy Karbala Governorate), for the student (Ahmed Hamid Jassim Al-Murshidi), and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kawthar Abdul-Hussein Mahdi, the study aims to diagnose the Cryptosporidium parvum parasite Using microscopic, immunological and molecular diagnostic methods in stool samples from patients in Karbala governorate, studying the relationship between the extent of infection with this parasite in the holy city of Karbala and some epidemiological factors such as gender, age of the patient, area of residence and the month in which the sample was taken, evaluating and determining the most effective method for diagnosis by knowing the sensitivity of Microscopic, immunological and molecular diagnostics

The thesis concluded that the Cryptosporidium is one of the most important types of parasites that cause diarrhea in the Holy Karbala Governorate, despite the low incidence of it. Parasite presence rate. Cryptosporidium parasite infects both sexes and of all ages, and children are more susceptible to parasite infection. The modified acidic dye technique and immunological tests did not provide an accurate infection rate. The nested polymerase chain reaction technique is one of the best methods used in the diagnosis of the parasite, for health awareness and level of Education and community culture has a significant effect on parasite infection rate. The discussion came out with several recommendations, including conducting extensive immunological and molecular studies of the crypt spore parasite to know the genetic sequence of this parasite and not being satisfied with the diagnostic study, conducting studies on the parasite among animals, as the parasite infects humans and animals.

Conducting a study on the relationship that occurs between this parasite and other causes of diarrhea, whether they are parasites, viruses or bacteria, making sure that health institutions include the examination of this parasite within the routine examinations for diarrhea cases that are available within hospitals and health centers, urging health institutions to set up introductory and educational courses about Parasites that cause diarrhea in humans for all health workers due to the danger of these parasites to human life, using the accurate diagnosis of the causes of diarrhea, especially in children, to prescribe appropriate treatment and eliminating them to reduce the incidence of deaths in children, paying attention to public hygiene and spreading health awareness among residents of cities and villages and commitment The cleanliness of the house, food and drink, and the student got an excellent grade.
