The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala held a scientific symposium entitled (Drugs….Dangers extending from the individual to society), delivered by the Manager of the Holy Karbala Drug Control Department, Colonel: Jabbar Fadl Shukr, Prof. Dr. Haider Al-Yaqoubi, Assist. Proff.Dr. Ishraq Sabah Sahib. The symposium took place on Monday 14/6/202, and in the hall of the late proof. Hussein Ali Abdul Latif. It ia aimed to define and clarify the extent of the danger of drug spread in Iraq, which has reached record limits in terms of rates of abuse among young people and the spread of drugs The phenomenon of its trade is widespread, which leads the country into a dilemma that specialists describe as “more dangerous than terrorism.”

 The symposium dealt with three themes. Where the first axis represented by highlighting the actual reality of the spread of drugs in light of the pandemic and the measures taken in this regard, presented by the human rights colonel, Jabbar Fadl Shukr. As for the second axis, it dealt with the psychological aspects related to addiction and its causes, and it was presented by Prof. Dr. Haider Al-Yaqoubi. And the third axis talked about the legal aspect and the legislator’s vision of the issue of drug spread and its progress by Assit.Prof. Dr. Ishraq Sabah Sahib. The symposium was attended by the Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Najm Abdul-Hussein Najm, and the Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hamida Idan Salman, beside a number of professors and academic lecturers.
