The Dean of College of Education for pure Sciences Publishes an Article about Organic Corrosion Inhibitors

A Scientific Article

Mrs. Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Dr. (Hamida Idan Salman), obtained the acceptance to publishing a scientific article tagged with the title (Organic Corrosion Inhibitors) by the Scientific Articles Committee at Karbala University after the article fulfilled all publication conditions. The Dean of the College mentioned that corrosion is one of the important studies at present due to the urgent need to protect the mineral resources in the world. It is defined as a phenomenon that leads to the destruction (breaking) of metal structures through chemical or electrochemical reactions and leads to material losses resulting from the replacement of devices and equipment. To reduce the extent of these losses, different protection methods are used the most important and most effective of which is the use of inhibitors that reduce the speed of corrosion to the least possible extent, because the corrosion cannot be stopped but can be reduced. Carbon steel is one of the most widely used types of steel in engineering applications, at a rate of approximately (85%). Because of its abundance in our daily life, and its cheap price compared to other metals, in addition to that, it can be used in different environments (acidic, alkaline, saline) and the properties of carbon steel depend entirely on the content of carbon, mostly the percentage of carbon in it is less than (1%). Where carbon steel is used in the manufacture of parts of the means of marine, land, and air transportation as well as in oil pipelines, building structures, and bridges, because of its good mechanical properties, although it suffers from different types of corrosion in some media, so it needs methods of protection from corrosion
