Master thesis discussion

The Department of Biology Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences discussed a master’s thesis entitled (The effect of crude extracts of Cyperus esculentus L tubers on the growth of some normal cancer cell lines outside the body), by student (Zainab Abdel Amir Mazhar) under the supervision of Assist.Prof.Dr.Liqaa Hassoun Sakban, on Wednesday 20/1/2021, at the hall of the late Professor Hussein Ali Abdul Latif, and the aim of the study was to study the effectiveness of raw aqueous and alcoholic extracts of dear love plant tubers in inhibiting the growth of some cancerous and natural cell lines which included three lines: ( MCF-7, Hep-G2, MDCK). And the study of the effect of the aqueous and alcoholic crude extracts of the cherry plant tubers on the mitotic index (MI) and the blast index (BI) of the human peripheral blood lymphocytes. Among the conclusions of the study, the possession of the raw extracts (aqueous and alcoholic) of the dear seed tubers on most of the active substances has an anti-cancer effect. The Hep-G2 streak cells were more sensitive than the MCF-7 streak and MDCK streak cells used for the extracts used for girls. The alcoholic extract is more efficient than the aqueous extract in its toxic effect against cancer cells, and it has a toxic effect against normal cells (MDCK). The discussion resulted in several recommendations: Conducting a study to determine the genetic, enzymatic, and histotoxic effects of raw honey tuber extracts in vivo. A study of the effect of raw sweet cherry tuber extracts on immune cells inside and outside the living body, and a study of the effect of extracts of raw sweet love plant on the cell cycle progression (), as well as their role in generating chromosomal changes or sister chromatid exchange, and studying the effect of the extracts The raw dear plant tubers in inhibiting the growth of new natural and cancerous cell lines cells, isolating and purifying the most important active compounds in the plant and showing their effect in inhibiting the growth of human cancer cells. The discussion was attended by Mrs. Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, and the student obtained an appreciation of excellence.
