Master Thesis in the Department of Life Sciences entitled (A phenotypic study of some types of branched tentacles from some regions of central Iraq)
The Department of Life Sciences, College of Education for Pure Sciences / University of Karbala, discussed a master’s thesis tagged (a phenotypic study of some types of branched tentacles from some regions of central Iraq), by student Noor Ali Naama Ghazi, and under the supervision of Prof. Hanan Zuwair Mikhlif, on Monday 9/11/2020, and the aim of the study was to record and describe the new species in water bodies in the central region of Iraq to enrich the Iraqi animal group, to adopt the external morphology in diagnosing and describing the species in general and relying on illustrations For body parts, and to develop classification keys for families, races and species It is the conclusions of the study. Ten types of the Iraqi group of cladocera have been recorded, and most of the species were recorded for the first time in Iraq. During the period of research, it was found that the types of the Daphinia family are the most prevalent among the places from which samples were collected (Babylon, Karbala, Najaf and Baghdad), and it was also found. The genus semocephalus is more common than the other genera. The discussion resulted in several recommendations, including: expanding the studied areas to include the governorates of the central Euphrates in particular and the governorates of Iraq in general and giving a wider time period, not restricting the collection of samples to specific areas of the studied governorate, using this group as an indicator to know the quality of water, it can be used as a model to understand the interactions between Aquatic environment community and the relationship between living organisms and ecosystem functions. The discussion was attended by the President of Karbala University, Prof. Dr. Basem Khalil Nayel Al-Saeedi, and the Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Hamida Idan Salman, the respected. And the student got a complete grade.
