The Department of Biology Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences held a training course entitled (The cumulative effect of pesticides on human health), which was given by both Prof. Alaa Hussein Mahdi from the College of Education for Pure Sciences and Eng. Zulfiqar Abbas from the Faculty of Nursing, Warith of the Prophets University, on Sunday January 24/2021, and in the hall of the late Professor Hussein Ali Abdul Latif, and the aim of the course was to define pesticides, which are chemicals or natural or industrial chemicals used to kill pests , Several methods were used in pest control (biological, physical, agricultural), and that the use of these materials led to the elimination or reduction of agricultural pests on the one hand or on the other hand led to an increase in the production efficiency of various agricultural crops by reducing the damage caused by these pests. Helping the availability of agricultural products at reasonable prices that serve the community.

However, the intensive and unconscious use of these pesticides led to the emergence of several environmental and health setbacks due to the accumulation of residues of these pesticides in the soil and the surrounding over time, in addition to the case of poisoning resulting from direct and indirect exposure to pesticides, as more than three million cases of poisoning and 200,000 were recorded annually. Death in the world and there are approximately 25 million farmers in developed countries suffering from various diseases as a result of the use of chemical pesticides. The session was attended by a number of professors and teachers of the department.
