Prof. Dr. Ban Abdul-Hussein Al-Khafaji from the Department of Biology published a scientific article on medicinal plants and their role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">She explained that medicinal plants have been used for centuries as a primary source of healing and well-being in various cultures. In recent decades, their importance has re-emerged thanks to the growing interest in natural remedies, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable healthcare solutions. These plants not only support traditional medicine systems but also play an important role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to health, the environment, economic growth, and responsible resource use.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Supporting good health and well-being (Sustainable Development Goal 3).<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Medicinal plants are an integral part of traditional medicine, which benefits approximately 80% of the world&#8217;s population, according to the World Health Organization. From treating the common cold with mint to managing inflammation with turmeric, these plants provide accessible and affordable healthcare alternatives. Integrating traditional knowledge with modern medicine contributes to improving healthcare systems, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
