The Minister of Education Receives the French Consul General in Mosul


The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdel-Saheb, received the French Consul General in Mosul, Mr. Jean-Christophe Auger and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, in the presence of the Director-General of the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations, Dr. Hazem Baqir Taher, the Minister of Education explained that the Iraqi academic institutions have cooperation relations with French universities in accordance with the agreement signed between the two countries and the scientific programs it includes in the fields of higher education and scientific research.
He added that the universities of Mosul, Northern Technology, Nineveh, Tal Afar and Hamdaniya in Nineveh Governorate are open to joint cooperation and cultural exchange with French universities and academic institutions in various disciplines, pointing to the willingness of Iraqi universities to exchange scholarships and visiting professors and receive students in studies of common interest.
The Minister of Education added that the priorities of cooperation between the two sides require focusing on rehabilitating laboratories, laboratories and scientific workshops in universities that have been sabotaged and damaged by ISIS terrorist gangs, and developing sustainable coordination paths regarding health and medical care centers.
For his part, the French Consul General, Mr. Jean-Christophe Auger, expressed his thanks and happiness for the meeting and the good reception, pointing out that the French side is working on developing memoranda of understanding between Iraqi universities and their French counterparts and updating academic cooperation programs in the medical, engineering, social and psychological disciplines in the near future.
