The Department of Biology Discusses a Master’s Thesis on the Molecular Detection of some Mutations that Cause Prostate Cancer in the Holy Governorate of Karbala

Discussion of a Master’s Thesis

The Department of biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences discussed the master’s thesis for the student (Ali Jabbar Abdullah) entitled (Molecular detection of some mutations that cause prostate cancer in the Holy Karbala Governorate), under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. (Zainab Nizar Jawad). The study aimed to:

1. Studying the effect of some risk factors on prostate cancer (age, place of residence, smoking, family history of prostate cancer).
2. Studying the results of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) examination is one of the methods of diagnosing prostate cancer.
3. Study the relationship of some risk factors for prostate cancer such as (age, place of residence, smoking, family history of prostate cancer) with the genotypes in the study genes.
4. The use of molecular examination methods in diagnosing polymorphisms in the genes identified in the study, namely (P53 codons 72 polymorphism GSTM1, GSTT1.

After extensive scientific discussion and listening to the student’s defense of his message, his method of research and his use of sources and references, the thesis was approved with excellent. Congratulations to the student, to his supervisor, to the College of Education for Pure Sciences, to the University of Karbala, and to more creativity in the service of our beloved Iraq, the Iraq of science and scholars, and from God Almighty success and payment.
